delightfully precious Yorkshire Terrier puppies. All Summit Yorkies
are sired from Champion Bloodlines to assure the finest examples of

playful package of love that will add immeasurable pleasure to your

"Parti Central” – Where it all began
Breeder Alli Gesmundo (founder and owner of Summit Yorkies)
is credited with breeding the first fully AKC registered and
recognized “Parti-Color Yorkshire Terrier.” Due to her efforts, now
you too can own the most recent (and highly sought after) official
member of the Yorkshire Terrier family, direct from the person
responsible for the Parti Color’s acceptance by the American Kennel
Club!
Selecting your Parti-Colored Yorkie
When selecting a Parti-Colored Yorkshire Terrier, there are four key
areas of consideration on which to focus:
1. Color
2. Conformation to the breed standard
3. Coat
4. Character
The key characteristics to each area are as follows
COLOR: Check for consistency in markings, paying particular
attention to the masking of the eyes in black and tan. White flowing
coats, offset by black saddles with occasional black spots. Eyelids
and nose properly pigmented
CONFORMATION TO BREED:
Small, perfectly proportioned and fully symmetrical heads, framed by
petite but perky, erect ears. Shimmering, effervescent eyes
complement their perfect bite, completing the facial presentation of
our little Parti-angels and can only be attained here at the Summit
using the talent of our Breeder, Alli. Top lines on all Summit
Parti-Colored Yorkies are level, supported by perfectly set legs.
Properly carried tails complete the luxurious appearance of this,
the latest chapter of the storied history of Yorkshire Terriers.
Each loving example of Parti-perfection weighs in the four-to-six
pound range.
COAT:
All Summit Parti-Colored Yorkies enjoy a luxurious coat of fine,
silky hair as if spun from the looms of angels. The base color is
pristine white, as if taken from the purest snow. The luxurious
white coat is counterbalanced with a black saddle and/or spots.
CHARACTER:
Summit Parti-Colored Yorkies each have their own unique character
while sharing even temperaments. Curiously mischievous by nature,
Summit Parti-Colored Yorkies are full of personality, with a zest
for life unmatched anywhere. Like people, you won’t find two that
are exactly the same in character, yet they all make wonderful pets
for both children and adults alike.
Don’t let their petite size and delicate features mislead you: They
make wonderful watchdogs; alert and “on duty” at all times. They are
amongst the most intelligent dogs you will find anywhere and their
feisty spirit can keep would-be intruders many times their size at
bay.
The Return Of Parti Color Yorkie Puppies
The rarest and most highly sought-after Yorkshire Terrier puppies in
today’s market are Parti Color Yorkie puppies. This is due to both
their unusual coloring and the uniquely adorable appearance of
“Yorkies.” The word “Parti” originally referred to any dog with
“more than one color.” Over time, however, the term has come to
describe a dog that is basically white with a particular color
pattern (spots or patches). Parti Color Yorkies first came on the
scene in the 1800s. However, the Parent Club made a decision at the
time that the preferred color for Yorkshire Terrier was the standard
colors you see today. As a direct result, the tiny Parti Colored
Yorkie pups were not accepted and were essentially “banished” (given
away without any pedigree papers). This remained their fate for over
a century.
In 1983, however, a Yorkshire Terrier named “Rolls Royce Ashley” won
the Best of Show at Crufts and was selected Dog of the Year. This
Yorkie Stud went on to become the patriarch of our exclusive line of
AKC registered Parti Color Yorkies. The AKC officially accepted our
Parties after voluminous DNA-tracing. The most common characteristic
of our Parti Color Yorkies is a basic white body with other colors
including such unique combinations as white/black/blue and
white/black/tan.
The Real Deal
Many people have the mistaken notion that a Parti Color Yorkie is
not eligible for AKC registration. This is simply not true. In fact,
Parti Colored Yorkshire Terriers can be registered with the AKC.
Every one of our rare AKC registered Parti Color Yorkies is 100%
purebred Yorkshire Terrier. AKC has designated Parti colored Yorkie
pups alternate color number as shown in the chart. However, for show
purposes, while they are accepted in the obedience ring, Parti
Yorkshire Terrier Pups are not yet eligible to be shown in the
confirmation ring.
The Mating Game
The AKC requires four (4) photos of each puppy (front, back and both
sides) to be sent in with the registration papers as the Parti Color
puppy is registered on a case-by-case basis. We are very proud of
our 100% acceptance rating by this process to date (all of our
Yorkies have excellent bloodlines and pedigrees). The Parti gene is
recessive and must be on both the sire’s and the dam’s pedigrees. If
you breed a Parti Color Yorkie breeder to another Parti Color, ALL
the puppies will be Parti Color. However, if you breed a Parti Color
to a Parti Color carrier, this will result in two Party Color
puppies and two Parti Color carrier puppies. Breeding two Parti
Color carriers will yield one Parti Color pup, two Parti Color
carrier pups and one standard color puppy. A Parti Color carrier
bred with a standard color Yorkie will produce two Parti Color
carriers and two standard color pups. Naturally, two standard color
Yorkies, when bred, will result in all standard color puppies. Note:
These figures are averages based on a litter of four puppies. You
may get more of the Parti Color Yorkie puppies in one litter and
less in another.
